A French baguette is perfect for making incredible garlic bread. Just imagine: a crispy golden crust formed thanks to butter, viscous melted cheese, aromatic garlic and fresh dill. This baguette will disappear from the table before it has time to cool completely, don’t even doubt it.

What do you need to know to make the perfect garlic baguette in the oven?

You won’t have any difficulties during the cooking process, everything is very simple. But for a good result, we will give some tips. Do not turn on high heat and it is better not to leave the stove when melting butter. It can quickly burn out, then it can no longer be used.

We cut the cheese into slices, but if desired, you can grate it and place it in the cuts. You can also experiment. For example, mix several types of cheese: mozzarella and any hard cheese to taste. This also applies to greens; you can take another one too. But the main thing is that it is fresh, because dried herbs will not be as bright in the finished dish. This baked baguette with cheese and garlic will be an excellent addition to soup or fresh salad. That is, of course, if you don’t eat it right away.

If you want to practice baking, prepare fragrant bread with oatmeal and flax seeds; you don’t even need yeast here.

Garlic Bread: Step-by-Step Recipe

Step 1: Preheat the Oven

  • Turn on the oven to preheat to 180 degrees. Peel 2 cloves of garlic and chop. Wash 5 sprigs of dill, cut the greens from the stems and chop.

Step 2: Prepare the Cheese

  • Cut hard cheese into slices. Make small squares of cheese. Adjust the amount of cheese to taste, we needed about 185 g.

Step 3: Melt Butter with Garlic and Dill

  • Heat a frying pan or small saucepan and add 50 g of butter with 82.5% fat content. Melt it over low heat, being careful not to burn the butter. Remove the oil from the heat, add the garlic and dill, stir.

Step 4: Make Cuts in the Baguette

  • Make deep cuts in the baguette at a 45 degree angle. Do not cut until the end so that the baguette remains intact and does not separate. Place the baguette on a layer of foil.

Step 5: Add Cheese and Butter Mixture

  • Place slices of cheese into the slits of the baguette and pour melted butter with chopped garlic and dill. If you have a pastry brush, use it – it will be easier to distribute the oil.

Step 6: Bake in Foil

  • Wrap the baguette completely in foil, place on a baking sheet and place in an oven preheated to 180 degrees for 10 minutes. Then let cool slightly and serve immediately.
